Sports Day 2018 Friday 15th June @11:30 a.m. sharp.
Open to Pupils of Scoil Mhuire only. Timetable of events may be altered, according to weather conditions. In the interest of health and safety school sports may be deferred in the event of heavy rainfall making the surface of the pitch unsuitable for running.
Our School Sports are held in accordance with the principles of fair play and sportsmanship. We reserve the right to disqualify anyone who does not adhere to these values.
In all events the decisions of the judges, starters and officials are final.
PART 1-Novelty Events
This will be circuit style activity stations where the class teacher brings their own class around to each fun station. This will be done earlier that morning by each class at an allocated time. Parents are welcome at 11:30 a.m. to spectate at the medal events.
PART 2-Medal Events-All pupils are encouraged to take part. Races are separate boys and girls for each class except for the three legged race. Teachers will act as officials on the day in various capacities.
Sprints :Junior Infants to 6th class
Bean bag on bat Race: Junior Infants only
Three-legged Race: Senior Infants to 6th class
Long Distance Race: 3rd to 6th class

Junior Infants will wear RSA bibs to aid visibility. Please return these to the results desk at the end of Sports Day.
Each pupil gets an ice-cream after their sprint for taking part. Pupils wait at their class station to be brought by a teacher in charge.
All medals and ice-cream are sponsored by the PA. Thank you.

For the three legged race bring a suitable tie.
Wear sunscreen, runners, school t-shirt and bring packed lunch and a drink.
N.B. Parents who wish to take their child[ren] home before the day ends must sign their child out with the class teacher
Do not stand within the ropes, keep the running track clear, do not litter and no dogs allowed.
Best athletes on the day will be awarded at the final assembly.
All pupils taking part must be ready for their race so listen for the announcements and go straight to the start line.
