We Love Books! Tuesday 17th April
Today we celebrated our love of books in school. We brought in our favourites, read with our buddies, D.E.A.R. Time as a whole school where we all dropped what we were doing and took time out to read.
Some of us went to the local library for storytelling and we held teacher swap story time- a favourite every year.
To add to the occasion 4th-6th class and their teachers were very privileged to have ‘An Audience with John Boyne’, author of ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ and ‘The Boy at the Top of the Mountain’. The classes listened to John speak on his life as an author and the children got the opportunity to ask lots of questions and get some copies of their books signed. John Boyne was accompanied by fellow writer Claire Kilroy who received our entries to our creative writing competition. The winners will be announced in due course. Thank you to Claire and John for making our Book Day a memorable one.
