*Important note re Bug Busting and Medications*

Dear Parents,

Due to requests from parents and teachers, we have arranged a talk for parents by the Public Health Nurse who is linked to our school on lice detection and eradication. (Bug Busting)

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 5th of November at 7.00 p.m. in one of the school classrooms. The nurse will talk through the detection and treatment of lice and show a short DVD demonstration. We urge all parents to attend the meeting so that we can keep Scoil Mhuire as lice free as possible and avoid ongoing return cases of the bugs.

As a whole school, we will then complete the ‘big busting’ check days as follows:

Day 1: Wednesday 6th November (No homework recommended)

Day 2: Sunday 10th November

Day 3: Thursday 14th November (No homework recommended)

Day 4: Monday 18th November (No homework recommended)

We ask that all parents complete the checks on these days, even when no bugs are found on previous check days.

It is also vital that your child’s hair is tied up at all times during school. This includes boys who wear their hair long, (where the hair is long enough to be tied back.) This helps greatly in preventing the spread of head lice.

Secondly, It is important to inform your child’s class teacher if your child has any medical condition or needs to have medication in school (epipens, inhalers.) Please ensure that this medication is up to date and that your child’s teacher knows how to administer it in the event of an emergency. This may mean coming into the school and demonstrating how to use the medication. Your teacher will give you the consent forms needed for (a) displaying medical information for the awareness of other staff members and (b) for permission to administer medication.
